Ordering a Blazer & Henkes |
Lead | |
|
I have become extremely interested in a Blazer and Henkes and am considering ordering one...probably an OM28. I have been following all the threads about these
guitars for some time now and find myself really intrigued by their instruments and their love for the old guitars as well their approach to building. Those of
you in the US (like me) that have B&H's, how did you go about ordering them. Did you work directly with them or is there a US dealer you ordered
through (Mass Street is the only one I know of). Anything anyone can tell me about your experience ordering a B&H would be appreciated. In addition to the
great guitars I bet they are really great to work with as well. I'm looking forward to the experience.

I have recently enquired about a Blazer & Henkes guitar as I am considering ordering one as well, their interpretation of a D-18.
Their current build time for new orders seems to be around 4 years. A long time, but very likely very worth every day. As Yiannis mentioned, a US dealer may have guitars coming sooner, such as Mass Street Music. I hope this helps, best of luck and keep us posted. Nils

I ordered mine Oct of 2008, will hopefully be to me by summer of 2011. Sounds like you need to email Willi. Nothing but good things to say about these fine
people. I wouldn't hesitate. An OM-28 would be a fine choice. What year would you base it off of? I'll tell you that I think it would be interesting
to get a copy of a 30 OM-28. That one had the banjo tuners, straight bridge, and short pattern diamond & squares. Personally, my favorite looking of the
OM's.

I'd contact Willi directly, he's a member on this forum. He's a great guy, answers emails pretty quickly and will tell you all you need to know.
You could also contact Jim Badgett (sp?) at Mass Street, another class act and (I think) the only US dealer for these exceptional guitars.
I got lucky, my B&H ( Brazilian Baton Rouge) was available at Mass Street when I went looking. They were easy to work with, wonderful shop. I've played two B&H guitars, both were (are) exceptional, better than the hype, actually. You won't be sorry. |

Bluenotes - Here is their web address - definitely call them direct. They are truly good people.
http://www.antique-acoustics.de/ BTW - i know u mentioned you are considering an OM-28, but...well i was at their place over the summer and while the 28's are absolutely wonderful, what really floored me was the pearl work that they do. I generally don't like fancy guitars no matter who does the work, B&H are the exception. Their work is completely flawless, as if it were constructed by computers or aliens from outer space, and not by flawed humans prone to the occasional error. To quote one of my favorite movies, "if you have the means, i highly recommend picking one up."! Best, Tim |

I agree with Tim about the 28 style. I absolutely love the 28 style. At first I had a BH OM 28 on order. An then I saw the wonderful pearl work on the 42 and
45 style BH guitars being constructed and just wanted a 42 style. I'm glad I changed my order for an OM 42. Their 28 style are of course beautiful too.

One warning: If you visit them, they will get you drunk. It all started very innocently, and gradually, but at the end of the night, they got me ; )

ALERT!!!!!!! Used B&H D-28 Shade top for sale in Buy & Sell. If I had the money, I would buy it right now. Anyone trying to get on the 4 year
wait time would score big by grabbing this up. Just wanted to make everyone aware if you don't check Buy & Sell that much.
