Interesting, I haven't seen a 1961 with a decal on the back of the headstock but the serial#, 177271, indicates early 1961.
I don't have a high opinion of the seller. Wants a few thousand but is unwilling to do the research. Whenever you see a seller making insurance optional, you know you are dealing with an idiot. The seller is always responsible for damages. When a seller doesn't purchase insurance, it is because he/she elects to self insure. Still, this seller may scare away the big money due to her ignorance which may mean there's a bargain to be had. I certainly would pay by credit card or PayPal backed by a credit card only. Her negative feedback indicates she doesn't pay much attention to shipping details but this has a nice hard case.
It looks like a great guitar but my money is tight and I already have one (and it's not as nice as this). If you have been looking for one, this may be it - but be careful.
