Okay, so someone in this thread mentions that a guy named Sam Kennedy is working on a new Prismatone. A couple of weeks later, Sam Kennedy himself joins us and
comments on the new developments.

And people wonder why I love this forum so much! Exactly, David. But Sam was tuned in long before he spoke up. Edit: Obviously I meant that in a good way. Knowing his market and all. Not in an anonymous, skulking way that it may have been interpreted below. Sorry. It gets better. I had a nice discussion today with the person who made Trigger out of a guitar that Martin made for one year only (1969) and I played the reissue that was made without a pickup . . .Mike, glad you made it to Rick's to check on our project. I'll give you a report after I pick it up. Mark

You Bet.
This is the very reason that I little tolerance for boards. I can promise you that I don't need your board or your veneer. It's like I wrote in a PM to MikeHalloran, who I respect, yesterday. If we were all standing around face to face talking rather than writing anonymously, we'd all be laughing about this. Congratulations for valuing Bucky, he ain't a bad guy, and I loved his mom, even though she could be coarse she could also be profound and in her way fun... Kinda like Harlan Howard. As for most of the suits, I hope most people here value them more than I do. To me they're a means to an end. I don't claim anything that I don't live, and I don't know who you think I am, but as much as you can promise that it's the last word, I'll promise you that I ain't who you think. I've never been here before, and although there are those whose views I respect and value, I have as little tolerance for the wanna be's as you seem to have for my sense of humor. Why is it that people keep writing that they don't object, and saying that the thread is entertaining, but the admin, and moderator have their drawers in a wad, over my weird sense of humor? I asked an honest, forthright question in my last post which was essentially "what would you do if you were in my shoes?" I'd like to stay to hear the answers, but that's up to you guys. But that is up to you. The guitar, is off the market. I have an offer that makes sense to me, and it's very close to the asking price. The buyer's representative notified me last night that the provenance cut the muster, and made a final offer.... We'll conclude the sale next week. As promised, I'll smile when I see the funds transferred into my bank account. MikeHalloran, thanks for being a gentleman..... I respect your opinions, even though I haven't always agreed. Bob, thanks for not ending the thread as others (not me) have requested. I think like others have expressed, it's been interesting, it was a tool for me to get the guitar into a discussion of people that I deemed to know their stuff. And most of them do. But, what most fail to see is that it just ain't about the materials in the guitar.... It's about the soul that in it. Otherwise, I'm just gonna sit back and listen..... Whether we've agreed or not, I appreciate the posts and interest.... But being b.s. averse myownself, I don't need to be called a "charleton." Y'all take care. Remember what William Travis said.... And my sentiment is the same. |

I must say this has turned into one of the weirdest, albiet most interesting, threads I've seen in the few years I've been hanging around here. Thanks
mods, for not shutting it down when it was getting good.
None of my business, but I don't understand why someone would be so mysterious about his true identity. Maybe he's Clark Kent or something....Personally I'm gonna miss PossessionofTrigger. I never imagined starting Classical Gas would lead to such a controversial subject so quickly! Cool. Rev George |

Are you local? If so, let's get together - I want to see that bad boy when it's done. Rick promised me that he would shoot pictures during the installation.

I just wanted to say, very briefly, that I wouldn't normally post a sarcastic comment like I did earlier in this thread (in the other limited posts I have
made, I never have before). It was meant to be more of a rolling-of-the-eyes, whatever-you-say type of response than an attempt to start a conflict--precisely
because it didn't seem, to me, that a sensible back and forth conversation would be possible. But anyway, sorry Mods.

Well now that the guitar is off the market, I guess I won't get to hear any more about how it was the one Willie played onstage while Trigger was being
hidden from the Feds. If that's the case, this particular guitar has its own legend going, and a cool one at that.

I understand Rick will be out of the country as of Tuesday, so I may not be able to do that. I'll contact you off-line after I talk to him. Thank you for the offer. Mark |

Mark, (MVSarles) I would love to hear sound clips too if that's possible. Even if it's just a little noodlin. Andre, that's a tall order . . . for me anyway. Well, the noodlin' I can do. Thank you for the congrats, though. In the meantime, I've asked Sam Kennedy to check in here and provide some of the clips he has sent me of his Prismatone II pickup on other guitars. As discussed earlier, his pickup debuted at the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society convention and there are some great clips from there. If this doesn't insert as a link, copy it into your browser or search on Eddie Estes within YouTube. See "The Claw." It's from the convention. He's using one of Sam's pickups. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDG7kEcHsAQ I would also suggest a journey to the Chet Atkins board (The ChetBoard) at www.misterguitar.us. The discussion board there has had several threads on the great response to his product. Although we here associate the Prismatone with Willie and Trigger, Chet, Jerry Reed, Glen Campbell, Paul Yandell and others also used them and there's another large market segment there. Particularly with the Jerry Reed fans. There's a YouTube clip of Dow Douthill playing a Jerry Reed song on one of Mel McCullough's "Clawmaster" guitars with Sam's Prismatone II. From what I've heard, it's going to be awesome. Shoot, right now I'd buy another just based on his customer service! And I don't even have the guitar back. Mark |

Mark,
Thanks for the info, and also that link. That version of Jerry Reed's "The Claw"by Eddie Estes was terrific. The sound and tone is super. I've been pondering this issue of pick-up and nylon string guitars for a long time now and up until this thread, I had never heard of a Prismatone! Just goes to show my ignorance. I'll be sure now to keep the Prismatone II and Sam Kennedy in mind when I get closer to that new nylon instrument I hope to get. Thanks again, and I wish you loads of playing enjoyment on your new instrument.
Best regards,
Andre |
