After being very pleased with my Greg Rich designed Carolina JO-26, I was excited when I saw Greg's The Loar archtop guitars.
The LH-400 and 500 were designed after the old Loyd Loar Gibsons, but the +$1k price tag was a bit steep for my taste.
Well, I guess they must not have sold too well as they have been discontinued and have shown up on various sites at vastly discounted prices.
I picked up a new round hole LH-400 in natural for under $400 and couldn't be happier. A great design and superb workmanship.
It has all solid woods with a spruce top and flame maple sides and back.
The low profile neck and 1-3/4" nut make it great for fingerstyle and it has that great tone of an archtop acoustic (if you like that sound).
If you can find a new one for under $500 grab it. If you like the sound of an archtop acoustic you won't be disappointed.
