Hello Mike, When the Guild plant in Westerly, RI was closed at the end of 2001, I had a chance to go through some boxes in the 'obsolete parts' room. Some of these boxes had not been opened since the move of the Guild plant from Hoboken, NJ to Westerly, RI at the end of the '60s. Anyway, in those boxes I found some old celluloid sheet material that obviously had been used for pickguards during earlier years. I did put it on the scanner on top of a piece of light colored paper to get the slightly more reddish look of older spruce and this is what it looks like. Maybe not as reddish as what you usually see on '60s Martins but it's closer than most of the repro stuff I've seen so far. What do you think? (06/26/08 3:01 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Hello everybody, Together with the messages I received it looks like I've gotten more requests for individual pieces than I have material. I didn't have that much to begin with and I would like to save some for future Guild repairs. The sheets are somewhat odly sized. They were cut so you could get 2 Guild pickguards out of sheet. At this point I believe I cannot get more than 3 Martin style pickguards out of a sheet. It would be great if I could get 4 out of a sheet but it doesn't look like it. The thickness of the material is slightly thicker than the black ('70s) Martin material, which is 0,6 mm. The tortoise style stuff is 0,7 mm, which I believe translates to about .028". If you're interested just contact me by private mail and meanwhile I'll see if I have enough pieces so I can help all the people who have showed an interest so far. Here's an example on my '69 Guild F312NT, it's even deeper in person.
