new retro monel strings - why are these heavier than other strings
i was just looking at the 2014 catalog about the new martin monel retro strings . i have a couple of question's , 1st are these made of nickel just like the tony rice monel 's as i really like them and was hoping for a light gauge for my older martin . but the ad say's nothing about them being nickel other than they are made from monel wire . 2nd why is the tension higher on these than the other light gauge strings , they are higher than the phospher and 80/20 in any other set . i was surprised to see this as the tony rice strings almost have a light feel to them from what i thought was less tension on the string , but if the retro light gauge is made the same as tony rice nickel monel string than having a highr tension than any other light gauge string would blow that out the water , what is up with that . they are close to medium's . thanks for any help .
