I live about a half hour from the factory and my modus operandi is whenever I’ve had an issue with one my guitars (I own 3 Martins), I walk-in to the Factory and show the guitar to an expert there. I’ve done this since the 1960’s. Well this morning, I learned there’s a new policy there. And I realize just how lucky I have been for all those years.
Now when you show up unannounced with your guitar, the kindly receptionist will give you a card to fill out and attach to your guitar. You will need to leave your guitar there and you will be told by the kindly receptionist that in two (2) days, you will be called about your guitar.
She did volunteer that if one will phone the Factory in advance and ask to speak presently with “Barry Henney”, then you can schedule an appointment through him to have your guitar examined. When I asked if Barry Henney was presently available, I was told he was in a conference call.
I don’t know if any of you knew of this policy change. I’m writing it here so you have the benefit of making an appointment first before you wander in there thinking you’ll get your guitar looked at....like in the old days.
Over and Out, Jay
