I read many threads about changing bridge saddles, nuts, and bridge pins. Many claim improved tone and volume.
For example: When you change a tusk bridge and or nut to bone, how would that effect the tone and/or volume on a solid spruce/mahoganny dreadnaught type guitar?
Improved tone is a matter of opinion but volume is obvious. More volume may not be best if the tone suffers. I've heard some really loud guitars that don't have good tone (in my opinion)
I guess I'm looking for "rule of thumb" criteria of bridge & nut material, also I'm not sure how the bridge pin material can affect the tone and volume as long as the strings are held correctly in the bridge. Does the guitar with a tusk saddle need to have a tusk nut?
I know all guitars will respond differently, I'm just curious.
Maybe someone could point me in the direction of a good resource.
Thanks for all replies.
