I'm seeking advice from the 12 string fans to see if shaving the bridge is common on a 12 string Martin. Thanks in advance for your help.
I recently saw a early '70's D12-28 with one. It had a repaired top crack behind the bridge and the shaving occured during the repair. This was over a decade ago and the action seems fine. I did notice a slight top belly behind the bridge. It had light strings and was tuned a half step low. There is still a hump from the ends of the bridge to the middle, but not much and no signs the bridge was removed.
The guitar sounded very fine and it had great looking rosewood back and sides. I can appreciate this was done instead of a neck reset, I'm just wondering if it is common?
