So I decided to put together a song book of my own. I gathered about 100 songs that I know - some by heart - some with prompting. I wrote them out in Word - sometimes with chords and sometimes without. I set Word to produce an index with page numbers. I bought some fancy gray, heavyweight paper and a nice three-hole presentation binder. I printed the pages and stuck them in my presentation binder. Now I have about 100 songs in one handy book. I'm going to print a few extra copies of the index so that when I am visiting my granddaughters and they ask me to play a song I can hand them the index and let them choose which song they want me to play. I should have done this years ago. Never-the-less, I can see that this could be an ongoing project. I could use some tips.
So . . . How do you organize your songs? Author? Title? Composer? Genre? Do you keep your songs in a three-ring binder? Are your songs on loose sheets? Do you keep them in plastic sleeves? Do you need chords or are the words a sufficient prompt. Do you know all your songs so well that you just need a list of tunes?
