Re: What guitars will you buy and sell in 2017 and why? (reply)
Unless something new and revolutionary comes up in the acoustic world I think I will stay with my current lineup. On the electric front I just bought a Strat last week and am looking for 2 other specific electrics; a Gibson Custom Shop...

Re: I heard that John Prine visited Martin on Monday... (reply)
I am a big John Prine fan and the Prine model looks like a great guitar but I think they missed the goal of "he wanted his signature model to replicate his coveted Martin guitar." If you want one that is like his coveted guitar you need...

Re: Rattling Truss Rod (reply)
Looks like the tuner bushings are the culprit. The first one the luthier checked fell out. So he is going to address all of them and hopefully that will fix the issue. Thanks for all of the advice. I wasn't looking forward to sending my...

Re: Rattling Truss Rod (reply)
Bryan, "little washers under the tuner bushings". Do you recommend removing them or can they be tightened? What course of action should I tell the luthier to do?

Re: Rattling Truss Rod (reply)
I will go back to the luthier and have him check the bushings and washers before I send it on to the factory. I hope that is the issue. Thanks everyone/Scott

Re: Rattling Truss Rod (reply)
I have been in communication with Martin warranty department and am sending it in. This will give me a good excuse to drag my neglected trailer-queen D-45V out for some quality time. I will let you all know what Martin has to say.Scott

Re: Rattling Truss Rod (reply)
I am the original owner of the guitar and it is a 2006 model. I am not sure what kind of truss rod it has but it does move both ways. I have rotated it both ways and it doesn't change the rattle. I assume this would be a warranty issue,...

Rattling Truss Rod (topic)
My D-18GE has developed a rattle. I can hear it when I am thumping on the bass notes a little. I took it to my luthier and he checked everything and came to the conclusion that the truss rod is rattling. Has anyone else ever had an issue...

Re: Is it bad to install a strap button? (reply)
I wouldn't worry about a strap button unless the guitar is a very rare, low production guitar that will be a collectible one day. So unless is a D-100 or something like that the strap button wouldn't matter to anyone buying it down the...

Sold, please remove. 1994 Martin D-28 (topic)
Sold - This is a great sounding guitar built in 1994 in well played condition. Some minor finish cracks, dents and dings but very solid. Top is aged very nicely to a darker color. The nut and saddle are both bone (upgraded from plastic)....

I wouldn't worry about it. Plenty of people to play with out there, especially if you go to Craiglist and other places. Find people you can have fun with, there are plenty of them out there.Scott

Re: R.I.P Pete Huttlinger (reply)
I saw him at a guitar shop doing a fingerpicking expo about 12-14 years ago or so in Columbus, OH. He was excellent. It was winter and he drove down from Cleveland (I think). He said is car didn't have any heat. It was surprising someone...

Re: What is the best out-of-the-box guitar for live performance? (reply)
Thanks for all the feedback. I wish I had the $$ for a retro series, but this guitar will only be for playing plugged in so the expense isn't justified. I just picked up a DC-16GTE with the Fishman blender system. If it doesn't work I...

What is the best out-of-the-box guitar for live performance? (topic)
My old D-28 needs a neck reset and the electronics on it are crap. I want to buy something to perform with that sounds pretty good without multiple filters. What does the forum suggest? This will only be used with amps and playing...
