From Jeff Allen at Martin:"Tests showed an improved volume response with the bridge plate being Torrefied with the braces. Nothing else on this guitar is Torrefied. We did not see an improvement on this guitar with a Torrefied top."

I have a wonderful '58 D-18 that I fingerpick Merle and Chet stuff on as well as flat pick bluegrass and fiddle tunes on - I use Elixir Nanoweb Light mediums on it and it works well for either style.

Jduncan,Emily Meixell confirmed yesterday (based on your question to me) that the Vintage Gloss will only be used on Authentics and not available on custom shop orders.

According to Sandy, who is the head of inside sales, the OM-28 and OM-45 Authentics will feature the Vintage Gloss finish only. The other Authentics will be available with either finish....

Almost (but not) always in F at jams - fiddle players like it there.  But once you've learned it in F, learning it in G is extremely easy.  The chords are not complicated, nor is the melody...just something different...
