(That was young Kolya - just letting you know how pleased he is! It's a lovely little guitar, and thanks to Jon for making it happen so seamlessly. Congratulations my boy, and welcome to the club!)

Getting a good handling guitar at such a young age definately gives hime an edge on the learning curve! What a great gift!

A stroke of genius on your part, getting your child a good instrument to play. In most cases, having a good instrument encourages playing and practicing.
While there is some sort of moral satisfaction among musicians telling about how they learned on 3 strings tied to a broom handle, I used to tell my students
to get as good an instrument as they could afford, because what they save by buying a $39 guitar will be money. What they will lose is the satisfaction of
having an instrument that responds to you as a player.

Happy birthday, Kolja - have you already been playing together with your dad? What do your fingertips feel like now? A little sore? Dont worry - that´ll be
gone in a week or two of practicing (that actually happens to anyone starting to play the guitar). Best from the other shore of the big puddle,

brazil66 wrote: You people are incorrigible!!! His repertoire is currently a lot of riffy single line stuff, having starting out on the electric, and being a fiddle player, but the plan now is to head into strumming chords, especially now with the 3/4 size, and that lovely martin sound! Thanks for the encouragement, I'll tune him in when gets home from school tonight, hopefully the birthday hangover will have settled!
