Too bad they don't show the back... the part of the side that is showing in the zoomed-in view sure looks amazing.

I wonder if that bridge is one or two piece?
In pic the frets don't look they might have some yellow in them. It's also the first time I've seen a headstock ad pic upside down! |

Designed for the crowd that knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
"Buffy look; we got you a Maaatin. It cost a lot more than one of those pedestrian Maaatins they make for the rabble so it must be good." "Oh, my Gawd, Mummy. You know I wanted an Esteban. Give it to the cook." |

1. Check the prices of top-component stuff coming out of the custom shop. That 12-large isn't out of line for a full-retail list.
2. The metal inlays are very interesting. I think they are handsome, but not nearly as beautiful as some "stock" headstock torches, for instance. What I do wonder is what kind of glue is keeping them in, and whether they might not start vibrating somewhere down the line. 3. I think it's time for folks around here to calm down on the "mad rose" issue. As the mods have pointed out in closing some other threads recently, when it comes to mad rose, nobody knows nuthin'. 4. All of the above being only my own opinion, no matter how clearly and authoritively I make these statements.

I think sometimes folks order customs, and for whatever reason, their financial condition changes before they can take delivery. IE they lose their deposit but
walk away. I know Nazareth Music had a real gorgeous OM size custom that I could have bought "cheap" a few weeks go, as the original buyer walked
away and lost the deposit.
I wonder if NM got that guitar on the cheap in such a way, as I am not sure NM had the idea to call and create a NM Special Edition Martin. It is not my cup of tea, but I learned long time ago never to make fun of a man's git or his woman! |

I hate to say it, but I'll bet if it was a custom from Elderly, Gryphon or one of the other "mainline" Martin dealers - instead of Neiman Marcus
- some of you guys would be gushing over what a beauty it is.

...but quite a few have also written that were very excited to have an opportunity to see and play it when they were in Nazareth. And there's certainly a
lot of respect accorded to the Celtic Knot (though there are some who hate it) and other Martins with a lot of bling.
I think it's the image of Neiman-Marcus, not the guitar, that has the reverse snobbery going here. While Neiman-Marcus certainly has a tradition of going over-the-top on some items in their Christmas Catalog, they are an extraordinarily well-run store that places a high premium on quality products and superior customer service. And you don't have to be the Sultan of Brunei to be treated very well there. I've had the pleasure of shopping there a few times, and always left saying, "Wow!" Many years ago when I was in grad school, I had a girlfriend who wanted to buy a jacket there. It didn't cost a lot, but like most department stores at the time, Neiman-Marcus accepted only cash and their own in-house credit cards. I tried to pay with my American Express Card, and was politely told that they did not accept it. But, I was told that because I was an American Express Card member, I automatically qualified for a Neiman-Marcus card. We were taken to a private room where I filled out an application, and someone brought us coffee and freshly-baked cookies while a temporary card was made up for me. A week later TWO Neiman-Marcus cards arrived for me in the mail - one for Mr. William Moss, and the other for Mrs. William Moss. I put the second one away, and a few years later gave it to my wife after we got married! I always tried to keep that Neiman-Marcus experience in mind when I had my own business. Jon and Maury give you Neiman-Marcus-quality service. You get similarly treated at Nordstrom's. A lot of other businesses can take lessons from them.
