I looked at Sully's Straps and they are really nice but they are not exactly what I am looking for. For those of you who are as old as I am

Not to keep beating be the Sully horse but some of his Vintage straps have the skinny thin going. And if you get one for mandolin the pad will be real small,
also a kind of Old School look.
P.S. If I were in the market for what you decribe, I'd call Pat Sullivan and buy this strap right away before some mando-jockey snaps it up...
It's much smaller than it looks in the close-up picture, the strap is less than 1/2" wide. Quite a skinny strap.

My buddy got one for his L-00 and loves it. I'm planning to order a couple of them for my new small guitars. |

I'd like to find one like in Dave's post but with a lambswool pad.

I keep away from anything with a metal buckle for obvious reasons. The lack of any material which might impart a scratch is one of the nice features of
Sully's straps.

Here is what my sweetie got for me ..
I haven't got it, yet ... it was supposed to be a surprise .. but I walked in as she was measuring my old guitar strap ... (which is a narrow Fender
strap, like Dave posted) ... and when she knew she had been "caught", she told me she had been in touch with Sully, and that she had bought this
strap and needed to give him the measurements..

R. Curry,
I don't care much for buckles-n-bows-n-such but that #70020 looks like just the thing! Long Hollow seem to use really nice materials. |

Have you ever thought about tracking down a local leather-smith in your area who could custom design one to your exact specs?
Last year for Christmas I did just that and had a guy who works in my home town make me a beautiful one of a kind strap. I wanted an eagle on it and instead of carry a fish I wanted the bird to be clutching a guitar. We also selected the trim which has a Native American feel, put my initials on the bottom part and stained the leather a color of my choice. Another friend from UMGF suggested I have thin felt sewn underneath to help with comfort and to alleviate any staining that could occur on your clothes when you perspire. (I think he learned that the hard way) The artist took multiple measurements and spent A LOT of time with me just talking about the project as he sketched out ideas right in front of my eyes. Best of all the finished product was less then $70.00. I still want to bring it back to have a Moon and starts carved in above the Eagle. I get more compliments on this strap then you can imagine and it makes me feel pretty good about working with a local artist too ! Turns out the guy is also a guitarist and a real music buff to boot. He has done work for Dylan, The Dead, Neil, U2 and has stories to tell for days. I would never had learned about this great individual had I not taken a chance and stepped inside his shop. (he loved playing my HD28VS too) Here is a link to Patrick's website, watch the slide show if you have a minute ! http://queenleather.com/ Cheers, MST
