Trouble accessing UMGF |
Lead | |
|
My connection to UMGF and some other sites has gone very intermittent recently, sometimes I can get in for a while, then another time I'll get
"connection interupted". This happens both on my computer with Vista and Firefox or IE8, but also on the other house computer, running XP. Firefox
safe mode does not help, disabling security does no good. Arrrgh, anyone have any ideas? (I hope this is the right place to post this query.)

Have you tried smoke signals? You've got a perfect fire going... Seriously, I hope it turns out to be someone else's problem, and not your equipment.

I can't help you with Vista.
Amazing thing is... neither can Microsoft. Sorry, doesn't help your problem. I just couldn't help myself when it comes to ragging on Vista Perhaps it's a modem or router issue between your computer and the net. The connection may just be dropping because of a malfunction in this hardware. How long have you had the modem? And Router (wireless or otherwise)? The fact that it happens on both boxes leads me to believe it's hardware at the link. Have you talked to your ISP. Perhaps they will report issues in your area. max |

I'm beginning to think it'a a modem/router problem, since nobody else here has this issue, though it's odd that it mostly picks on the UMGF. There
have been other times when I had to switch the modem/router off for a while to teach it a lesson. Thanks for the replies.

Is this happening at any particular time of day?

Hmmm, swiching the modem/router off and on again fixed the problem last night, but I had to do the same thing this morning to link to the UMGF, while all other
sites seemed to work fine. Someone suggested clearing the DSL cache, whatever that is?

ciaran, the only help I can offer you at this point is that I know Yuku does some of their maintenance between 22:00 CDT and 01:00 CDT. When they've done
it lately, I've not gotten the maintenance screen...
In 36 years in the IT business, I never got to do maintenance earlier than 01:00 CDT or after 04:00 CDT. I just don't understand how Yuku can justify that.
