Nylon String with D-18A rave reviews ? |

Is there a nylon string guitar, dread size or close out there that comes close to getting the accolades the D-18 Authentic gets taking into consideration that
it doesn't have steel strings? Martin or competitor.
Thanks Hank |

This is an unusual question. Most nylon string guitars are about 000 sized.
The best Spanish guitars can take your breath away. Do a YouTube on Segovia and listen to his playing. Oh my, he was God in many ways. |

The FJN had a stained maple B/S and is generally found strung with light gauge steel these days. I wouldn't mind having one. The Bossa Nova had laminated BR B/S, a cutaway and a crystal pickup like my C-1-E. I have never seen one in the flesh and would like to try one out someday. I have a catalog photo and a dealer sheet somewhere on it.

ProfStack wrote: Actually, standard classical guitars are smaller and fit 00 sized cases. There are a few exceptions such as the 000 Martins, Swedish made Goya G-17/20/25/30/40 and Espana/Tarrega Grand concerts but Spanish style concert guitars are the smaller size. The hand built stuff coming out of Jose Ramirez will do. A vintage 1A is the standard by which all others are judged - sort of the D-28 of classical guitars. The student guitars (E andR series, 125 Anos etc) are all jobbed out leaving 9 people to build the great stuff under the direction of Amalia (always nice to talk to her at NAMM). Ervin Smoyogi, Paul McGill and the late Thomas Humphrey all have their devotees. A new fine concert guitar will start at $10,000 on up - way up. Those very few (12? 20? - They used Mark VI serial numbers) of us lucky enough to own a Guild Mark VII know that we have some of the finest classical guitars hand made by Carlo Greco.
