The August issue of Acoustic Guitar magazine has an article entitled "12-Strings for Any Budget," which reports on tests of six 12'ers ranging in
price from $330 to $3,900. Martin's new Grand J12-40E Special (of which I am a proud and happy owner) is featured in the top price category. Teja
Gerken's review of the Martin is uniformly favorable. He describes its "fit, finish, and craftsmanship" as "flawless," notes that
"the solid Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood used for the body were among the prettiest examples I've encountered," and sums up by
saying that "[w]ith its muscular tones, easy playability, and legendary build quality, there is no doubt that Martin's efforts to create a stunning
12-string have been a success." Having owned one for about seven weeks now, I'd say that Mr. Gerken's assessment is spot on. Congratulations again
to Tim Teel and all the great folks at Martin responsible for this winner.

Marshall:
Congratulations on a great guitar. I read that review in AG over the weekend and referenced it on another thread and as you pointed out, the review was really complimentary and Martin beat out some pretty strong competition to earn the top spot. Martin also received honorable mention in two other categories although I have to confess that I love my Larrivee (LV-03MT 12 String) for the money. |

Marshall - I can't wait to see it - hear it - touch it - play it! Hope you'll be bringing it to Martinfest!
Have you posted any pix yet? Which song in your vast repertoire sounds best on it?? Cheers, Jack |

Have you posted any pix yet? Yes, Jack, I posted a review and photos of it here. See posts 13 and 31 for the photos. Which song in your vast repertoire sounds best on it?? I'll have to let you be the judge of that. But I do enjoy using it for "My Back Pages," among others. And yes, I'll be bringing it to Nazareth next month (and others will be bringing theirs), so you'll have ample opportunity to take one for a spin. Marshall |

I am a strummer (been one for 45 years The only downside is that I am going to have to learn to play an F chord as a bar chord. My "easy F" does not sound good on this guitar.
