Got to see Tim O'Brien at the McKinney, TX Performing Arts Center last Saturday evening and was amazed. I hate to admit it, but I was not that familiar
with Man other than hearing a couple of things either at a friends house or on the radio. He was phenomenal, played 2 hrs by himself on a 00-18, a Bouzouki,
and a fiddle. He was personable with a lot of stories along the way and was quite entertaining even when not playing. Don't know how many Forumites are
familiar with him, but it is well worth a trip to see him.

Tim is one of my all time faves. Talent-plus! I love his singing, songwriting, guitar and mandolin playing ----he has it all! And a heck of a nice guy, too.
I've seen him many times and he always puts 100% into a performance. My favorite album (among so many)--check out his Celtic/Bluegrass crossover albume,
"The Crossing".

Hey Goof
Big Tim O fan here. That bouzuki thing he plays is pretty cool isn't it. I did a series of posts on my blog www.ItsGreatToBeAlive.com of Tim Obrien in the many different bands he was in over the years. You can download the shows in mp3. Cheers, Luke |

Another TOB fan here. Tim is a wonderful, prolific songwriter who is also a very good musician. I'd recommend any of the CD's.

Luke,
The Bouzouki was great. Most of the ones I have seen resemble a big mando, but this one was shaped like an arch top f-hole guitar. It sounded really good and he played it great. Also wore the fiddle out. All in all it was a great night and old Downtown McKinney, TX left a really good impression also. Peace Goof |

He's the only T.O. I care about.
Amazing talent. I've not yet been able to catch him live but hope to before it's all over.

I've seen him many times at MerleFest. Monster talent. One of my all time favorite records is "Real Time" with Tim and Darrell Scott, sitting
in a living room and tearing it up.
Play guitar, and never eat anything bigger than your head.

We saw him in a very small venue here in Columbia, SC a few years back (like 100-150 seats, tops) and it was one of the best musical evenings we've ever
spent. He was complaining of a cold and sore throat but you wouldn't know it from his singing. Probably the same instrumental lineup mentioned here (not
sure it was a 00-18). Ferociously talented man.
P.S. My favorite song of the night was his cover of "Lay Down Your Weary Tune". Spine-tingling. |

Tim makes a number of impressive appearances in the Aly Bain/Jerry Douglas "Transatlantic Sessions": he acquits himself extremely well throughout,
both as a singer and a multi-instrumentalist in some pretty illustrious company.
