Has anyone used Priceline to book a motel or hotel? Was it a good experience? I'm a bit hesitant to give my credit card info. without knowing any details
about the lodging.
Thanks very much. |

Priceline got us a GREAT deal at the Hard Rock in Chicago
in Feb. '08, and I use them now exclusively. Ron |

What Ron said...we were too late to book under the group rate for a trade convention, so in desperation I tried Priceline just to get a room - any room. Walked
away almost a hundred bucks ahead.

I use it all of the time, Ken... probably five trips a year. FWIW, you can get a good sense of what hotels are in the Priceline system (at what star-level) by
going here:
http://www.betterbidding.com/ and picking the state/country and city you're hoping to bid on. It's the UMGF of Priceline! Generally, you can't go wrong at least trying to bid on a 4-star hotel in your preferred neighborhood at 50% off the going rate. It'll probably be a big corporate hotel affair but it'll be clean and centrally located, too. If they reject your offer, you can always change it or move on to one of the other travel sites. Lastly, and perhaps this is a no-brainer, but sometimes big city hotels charge a ton for valet parking (or just parking in general). This can add 20-40 bucks a night to any hotel, regardless of how you book it, but such is life.

Have used them, received good deals, great deals, and unbelievable deals, of course who goes to Cleveland in Jan, but me, go Browns.
If your offer is rejected, you can wait, I think 3 days and put in another offer, if you have the time to play.
Round Tuit's you don't have to do it, just buy a round tuit.
Notice: Only available where buckets of steam are sold |

Guess I got the oddball deal. I bid and got a room in Lenox, Mass. for $5 under the going rate. Any bid under that was rejected. Those frugal Yankees.

So did you book a room? If not, check out this: Bidding For Travel, which is also a Yuku forum, and they will
give you all sorts of bidding advice for Priceline. You'll get a good idea of what people are paying in the areas that you are looking for. Good luck!

Call the hotel direct first.
They almost always have a room even though the internet says no. Ask them for their best rate and you can usually do really good. Ron, I stayed at the same hotel, Hard Rock Chicago. In June, not frigid Feb. The hotel was packed. The room, a delux dbl queen listed at $250 on the net. I got the same room for $150 for one night and $195 for the next two. Was priceline significantly better? max |

Max,
We had a three day package deal from Knoxville for $600.00 for BOTH of us! Airfare and three nights at the hotel. We loved the hotel! Ron |

Smokin deal! The boys and I went to Chicago on our annual end of school baseball adventure. Our three nights cost what your entire trip cost. Priceline, here I
come!

They only make their really great deals when you combine a room and
a flight. We had a ball on a budget we could afford! We'll do it again. Ron |
