Henk, in about 1932, Martin made a few mahogany guitars for Montgomery Ward. I was wondering if this guitar might have been one of those. Most MW guitars were made by Chicago builders, so I suppose this could alternately have been a copy of a 2-17 made by one of them. Or Chicago built, perhaps, and not related to MW at all. I'd be happy to include these pics in the bracing library. Maybe someone will recognize the build. I have not shown them anywhere before.
The kerfed lining looks more like mahogany than cedar, I'd say. And the spruce on the back centerline seems to have the grain perpendicular to what you
usually see.
Perhaps it's a good idea if we show these pics to the folks in The Vintage Corner.
