Of my three main guitars, it's the most versatile. Loud, soft, strummed, fingerpicked, flatpicked... it does it all. But like you said, you tried three OM-28V's that didn't speak to you. I have a D28MM and an OM28 Marquis and they are both keepers. I had an OM28v which was very nice, but the OM28 Marquis has quite a different tone. I think the IRW/ADI compliment each other very well in the OM28 Marquis. If you where to choose THE guitar, disregarding your D28, I`d say the D28 Marquis Madagascar. The 2005 Gruhn 35th Anniversary model I have is an excellent guitar and a diverse model compared to my 75th Anniversary D-18, the Elderly OM-18GE, the OM-41 Special and the 1833 Custom 000-42 VS. I love each one and they are all a pleasure to play with the latest addition 1833 Custom 000-42 VS getting the most lap time, but the 0000-18GE seems to have it all, balance, tone, playability and just a great feel to it. Good luck with your search for that special one out there that awaits you.............
