Any opinions? Should I jump on this price, or wait to pay another couple hundred for a new OM-1 when they're a little easier to find?

OM16GT...need a quick opinion |

I'm looking at an OM16GT for <$700. I haven't seen it yet (a craigslist shot), but I want to try the wider neck and small body size. I've
really been waiting for the OM-1's to get out to stores for playing, but this seems like it will be the same or better wood for less money. I own a DC16
now and just love it, along with an M36 and D28. I'd just like that OM-OOO size in the herd.
Any opinions? Should I jump on this price, or wait to pay another couple hundred for a new OM-1 when they're a little easier to find? Richard in Neenach, California

That's a good price. I bought one (and sold it) for that price. Seems like they should sell for more, but they just don't.
It's a really nice guitar, and I would have kept it... but you know GAS. I'd for sure grab that over the OM-1, personally. - Chris 2006 000-18GE | 2001 000-15S | 2008 CEO-4R | 2006 Felix II | 1979 Silver Anniv. Strat | Big Mo M-2 Mandolin |

I owned one and foolishly sold it. It was an easy playing, high quality
OM and the sound was excellent. Looking back, I should have kept it. You should grab that one. Good luck. |

Yes, a good price, about same what I sold mine for, they didn't list new for very high at all. It has a very basic woody folk style tone to it, maybe a
little bluesy too. I would of kept it if I didn't need the money to pay for my M-36. I would rather have a used OM-16 than a new OM-1 for the neck material
and better looking pickguard, the OM-1 has black I think. Never could get the action anywhere even close to this awesome M-36 factory setup though for some
reason.

I own an M-36 now, and you're right, Jim. It's an amazing guitar. I like to say it hugs you back when you pick it up.
I would like to try that wider neck and even a touch smaller body.

I have both the OM-16GT (2000 model) and one the first new OM-1 bought from Elderly about 6 weeks ago. Very similar albeit the 16 is almost 10 years old and
has opened up nicely. I love the neck and the action is down to sublime. The new OM-1 is a great new option for less than $800.00 street price (shhhhh) I
actually like the blend of technologies of a solid wood top/back/sides and the stratbond neck.
I just did a phone interview yesterday for the WSJ about the '1" series.... I am anxious to see the writer's take (Tim Aeppel). Either option is a great choice.
