Ah, Sooner, what a gorgeous pic! I kinda figured you'd be taken with it. I think we all understand that havin' to force yourself to put it away and go
to bed. I just spent a very pleasant hour under my favorite maple tree with my 15 'til the mosquitoes came out. There's nothing more pleasant than a
warm summer evening ad a good guitar.
Hope you're having as much fun as the rest of us. |

At Gruhn...
AB7808 Martin 000-15S, 2000, M, mahogany top, back and sides, 12-fret slot-head neck, padded SC......$850 now that is a sweet-looking guitar. Amazing top, and looks like no headstock overlay. The back of the neck hardly looks glossed at all from play... If I didn't already have an awesome example, I'd take a flyer on that one.

My 000-15S is DONE !! | ||

Well.....I feel I might just be growing up a little. I am finally done / satisfied / no longer planning the next upgrade on one of my guitars!
Maybe I have developed a little wisdom? Perhaps ??? NAW ........I think it is just I have done pretty much everything possible to my 15S and wanted to share (besides this thread needed a bump up from page 3!) I absolutely love this guitar now !!! And unless it is just a visual thing that fools my ears.... I think each little upgrade improved its sound quality. Bone Nut -- Bone Saddle that I hand compensated and fit -- Bone Pins with Tortis inlay -- Waverly Tuners 3 on a plate w/ snakewood buttons -- FireStripe Pick guard -- polished up to a semi - gloss. The top and back have a bit more shine than the pic show ...instead of getting the bright reflective shine in the pics I wanted to try and show how the polishing brought out the beautiful Hog wood!

Very sweet! Are the 3 in line Waverley's heavier than the stock tuners?

kozsak9 wrote:Yes the Waverlies are significantly heavier than the stock tuners. My opinion is that the extra weight of the tuners on the headstock along with their rock solid feel added a bit of clarity to the guitars tone. ***disclaimer on my above comment.......I had the bone nut installed at the same time so any tone improvement could be 100% due to the bone nut.....but I do feel the tuners added a bit to the tone. And I will repeat my comment that it could all be that just because it looks so nice my very impressionable brain and ears think it sounds better. (Similar effect to those Psychology studies that show most people rate attractive people to be higher in intelligence or better job candidates) Maybe because it is so beautiful I play it more and any tone improvement is simply all the additional playing helps the guitar open up a bit faster.

Interesting. I had a bone nut and ebony pins put on my 000-15S a while ago. I noticed a significant change for the better at that point. It seemed punchier and
more focused. Maybe not as "fuzzy" sounding.
The Martin tech who did the work agreed it sounded better. He was showing off his luthier skills in the store and was very proud of this "this little mahogany martin". Then some months later I took the plunge and removed the pickguard, inside label, and lightly sanded and polished the whole thing. This also seemed to make an improvement. But, as you say, was it all mental? I don't think so-maybe somewhat. A buddy of mine came over and was blown away at how much the little guy had come alive. It really does seem to hum now. It feels good to wrap my arms around the body with no scratchy sound of the matte top. And IMO it looks pretty sweet. Now, the Schaller's are the weak link. They work, but are pretty rough. I love the Waverley's on my D18-GE. Part of the appeal of the 15S is how comfortable it feels in the lap. Does the 15S feel "top heavy" with the new tuners? |

kozsak9 wrote: I don't think the Waverlies are heavy enough to have changed the balance of the guitar in my lap at all. One other point about the 3 on a Plate style is that some believe the plate adds a bit of rigidity / strength to the slotted head stock over the individual tuners. I like to think that helps to take the vibration down the neck and into the body a bit more efficiently. I do agree that even though polishing takes an infinitesimal amount of finish off ... I think that because there is no filler used on a satin finish ....that when you polish it that opens up those pores even more and allows the instrument to vibrate and resonate a bit more. ** again see my disclaimer above....I do know I am blathering on like a school boy talking about his first love..... My 15S is just beautiful to me now...I am so happy with it!!

Yesterday's WSJ ran an article about Martin's ramped up production of the solid-wood 1 Series with reference to the depression era mahogany bargain
sold for $30. Don't have a link...just saw it in hard copy. Interesting hedge against the recession.
Otherwise, still loving my new 000-15s...as does anyone who sees, smells and hears it. Couldn't be happier with it. |

Hi everyone!
My name is Ana and I'm from Malaysia, and I would like to join the club with my Trippie (000-15). He's a Sapele, and it was love at first touch and sound. I've been stalking this page for quite some time now prior to the purchase. And I just couldn't wait to sign up. And here I am, finally. My first encounter with the 000-15 was exactly last year. And I knew that it was the guitar for me. Since then, I've been writing more songs and performing with the hopes of getting that Martin when I truly deserved it. Though I still think that skill-wise I'm far from deserving. But having Trippie surely makes a lot of difference in my playing. Who needs laminates when you could go for solids? I can't wait to perform live with my baby. I've installed a Fishman's Acoustic Matrix and it sounds wicked. Thank you for being an awesome support group for the 15s. And I'm hoping that I could learn more about my guitar here. Cheers! Ana Raffali P/S: Actually I'd like to declare another 15 series club member, my producer and friend Aidit Alfian who was settling rather comfortably with his D-35 couldn't resist the temptation of the D-15, bought one the same day I did. |

Welcome, Ana! Congratulations! (And let us know if you have any YouTube clips of you performing with your new guitar!)
By the way, if skill were a requirement for having a nice guitar, I'd be playing an Esteban. - Chris 2006 000-18GE | 2001 000-15S | 2008 CEO-4R | 2006 Felix II | 1979 Silver Anniv. Strat |

Thank you, Chris. I don't even know what an Estaban is, but I'm guessing it's a musical instrument too.
I will definitely share the joy of a 15 with the rest of you. Thank you so much! -Ana |

Esteban is the nearly universally derided Zorro-like pitchman who sells an equally derided guitar (of the same name) on infomercials. They crank out quite a
few different models, including the "A Tribute to Paula Abdul" Limited Edition (Limited to 2000 guitars.) Three easy payments of $66.99 or something.

Wow. Love the Esteban ad! What a joke.
Had to part with my 000-15s for a couple of days to have a Fishman p/u installed. I may go through withdrawal since I've been playing every night. You all were right. Tremendous guitar. By the way, this may not be the right place to ask, but has anyone had experience with the Fishman SoloAmp? Appears to get good reviews... Thanks. |

Fishman SoloAmp... you mean that tower PA thingy that looks like a home-theater speaker? It looks really cool, but I've never had the opportunity (or need)
to try one...
