He hit a nice down the middle pitch right to the center fielder. The smile on his face when he hit the ball was priceless. You can throw in the 0-3 post season at bats if you want. However, I suspect if he was playing in the NL he would be one of the better hitting pitchers simply because of his athleticism. Just a great all round athlete. I've read in the past that he could have made it to the big leagues as an outfielder too. Speedy with a good glove and better than average arm (really ) Not sure if he would have lasted 14 years in the outfield. Steve

He offers up some nice insight at times and other times he seems to whine incessantly about stupid stuff like he did last night when he went off mandating that AROD get drilled after taking a big swing while fouling off a first pitch fastball. Beckett is pitching as well as anyone in baseball right now and it's not even October. Happy belated birthday # 35 to the Cap'n who got the day off.
