Did anyone else catch Mariano Rivera's at bat tonight? He hit a nice down the middle pitch right to the center fielder. The smile on his face when he hit
the ball was priceless. Almost as entertaining was his on deck "I have no idea what you do out here?" performance.

Mo's batting helmet looked to be in mint condition - shiny as a new car being driven off the lot. Wonder if he even has his own bat?

Mo is 0-2 life time don't cha know. You can throw in the 0-3 post season at bats if you want. However, I suspect if he was playing in the NL he would be
one of the better hitting pitchers simply because of his athleticism. Just a great all round athlete. I've read in the past that he could have made it to
the big leagues as an outfielder too. Speedy with a good glove and better than average arm (really

What amazed me was that he made contact so nicely on 1-0 after taking NO practice swings on deck.

I've developed a love/hate relationship with the Mets color announcer Ron Darling. He offers up some nice insight at times and other times he seems to
whine incessantly about stupid stuff like he did last night when he went off mandating that AROD get drilled after taking a big swing while fouling off a
first pitch fastball.

When are you dropping Smoltz? Its time to pick up Buchholz.
Of course, if you wanted to include him with Matt Kemp, I might be interested... |

When are you dropping Smoltz? Right after you drop Markakis....in other words, when you know what freezes over. : ) Just got a new PC w / Vista / IE 8 and I'm not happy about the fact that I can't figure out how to turn the smiley blocker / insert image filter off. : (

You may be on to something.
Nothing says old school more than using an original typed smiley in lieu of one of those "newfangled" graphic ones. ; ) I'm hesitant to turn to Herb for assistance - you know he'll say I should have used the opportunity buy a Mac even though he knows I'm a PC.

Looking at it from the Orioles perspective, the O's comeback still fars a bit short of the Indians who rallied from 12 down on two different instances during the game to defeat the Mariners 15 - 14 in August 2001. "Only twice in major league history had a team climbed out of a 12-run hole to win a game. The 1911 Detroit Tigers accomplished

It saddens me that we may have reached the point where Herb just doesn't catch up to the fastball anymore. It's bittersweet to see one of the greats
fade into the twilight of his career. We'll always have the memories....

Sorry, I haven't been paying much attention around here so far this year. Can someone tell me as of now who is in first place in the AL East?

If the season were to end today, the Red Sox would be the Champions of the AL East with a record of 22-9 in their division. Hope that helps, David.

If the season were to end today... There would be a playoff game and possibly, another legend would be born.
