Thanks for the number Rick. I appreciate that.
Todd, agree but only wondering if "built" is the clue to the seven that has been tossed about since early '06. At the end of the day, who cares? Pick on, amigos. Jack

Okay, if you want to get trivial, let's talk pickguards. The same as each 59 sunburst Les Paul has a distinctive top, each of these guitars has a
distinctive pickguard. That' gonna come in real handy 100 years from now in identifying the guitars in pictures. T-r-i-v-i-a-l!-!-! -L-

Based on the known examples on the UMGF, it looks like there were 4 batches with 2005 serial numbers - 10948XX, 11045XX, 11080XX, and 11156XX.
Number 9 on your list (Jim's) should be on it's way to me tomorrow morning.

Max, I have the serial number of number 1, and it is seemingly a 'fifth' set of serial numbers consisting of a batch of one.
The owner is a quiet friend and in retrospect I should have remained mum. I just won't discuss further. Sorry. Jack

If I'm reading the chart correctly, 13 of the first 17 have been sold by the original owners. I find that surprising.

George, it's called "s#!t" happens. In my case, I have always used guitars as a source of funds rather than tapping other investments. I had a
whopper med bill not covered by the contents of my check book, so the D-18A was sold in a day. So be it! It was also replaced within a month!
Right or wrong, that was my situation. Rudy just didn't like it. Etc. In many instances, it was no reflection on the guitar at all. Life!! Regards, Jack

I adopted both my 2005 models from the same guy. He was already the second owner of one of them! (Third, if you count the shop that took it back on trade from the original owner.) Yes, I did sell one of mine, but will most likely own the other for a lonnng time. Everyone has a different situation (always changing), and hopefully very few regrets... I don't have any regrets with my guitar dealings---it always works out okay. -Rick |

No question the Authentics are fine guitars. I'm just surprised by what the chart reveals. If this is indeed all the 18A models built in 2005, then I must
have played one of them. I was in a small shop just a few days after they were released and was amazed to find one hanging on the wall. It was a very
impressive guitar. I'm not a dread guy, but the friend I was with is and he still wishes he'd brought that one home.
As for turnover, I wonder if this is a normal rate for Martin. If so, then their lifetime warranty isn't as big a factor for them as I had imagined.

Does anyone know what serial numbers the first 000-18 Authentic have? Are they also owned by forum members?
