Note to self: Think twice before considering stripping/refinishing/refretting a brand new OM-28V neck and headstock....

Made in 2004. Bought new in 2008. I stripped the headstock and neck, and refinished it all. Not an excellent job, but I wanted a light layer of lacquer on the wood to protect it. My logic being that the headstock veneer looked like Formica, I figured that I paid enough for the guitar that I don't need to advertise for the guitar maker, and I wanted to see the gorgeous mahogany wood in the neck instead of a dull brown lacquer. I used 99% alcohol and a cotton cloth to strip off the gloss from the top, back and sides, as I prefer the dull finish look, and when the excess lacquer was off, immediately the sound of the guitar opened up.Sounds like he did more than just the headstock and neck. I believe he is saying he stripped and refinished the headstock and neck AND also stripped the gloss from the body of the guitar.

Aside from the neck block stamp, it looks
like a really well done kit guitar. |
