I think MBuchman is just psyching himself up for the task, and I don't blame him a bit. I'm also with Garry that the slotting has produced a measurable
improvement in the sound of my GE, both in the tonal quality and of course the mojo effect. The pins I got from Bob Colosi look like they were made just for my
guitar. The low E string pin I partially slotted even has a different dot inlay to identify it from the others. I am completely smitten with every aspect of
this procedure and I officially nominate Chaz for "Rooster of the Year". OK, the balloting is now closed, you win Chaz!!! Go go gadget
bridgeslotomy!!! Geof

I just PM'd you with a request to borrow the tool kit again. I just ordered a set of Willi's pins for my D-18GE and will likely need to fine-tune the holes and slots. Thanks. Alan D. |

Hey Garry, that's a good lookin' rooster for our poster child. I wonder if he already slotted his bridge. Judging by the strut in his walk I'd say
definetly!!! Pick on all, Geof

"A rooster crows only when it sees the light. Put him in the dark and he'll never crow. I have seen the light and I'm crowing."
~Muhammad Ali
Man that was fun! Got the tools today and just finished reaming and slotting my 000-16SGT. Yes, the slothead is slotted. MANY thanks to Chaz for being the generous godfather rooster of this project, to whomever added the files, which I used extensively, and to everyone who commented with advice, experience and encouragement. I've had mods done on my guitar, but this is the first one I did myself, and whether it changes the sound or not, it certainly feels great to have put my stamp on it. And it needed it, my ebony bridge pins were starting to bend and show wear from the string balls-and this is only an 8 year old guitar! It took me about an hour, including a few sips of Gentleman Jack, and the hardest thing for me was bending over the guitar, which I had on my music room couch, since I do not have a good workbench, while I sat on a low stool. Some of my holes needed a lot of reaming, some none. I used the triangle file to slot the high e, the small saw for the next 3, and the mack-daddy saw for the final 2. The big one looks like a friggin' chain saw, but ebony and maple (?bridgeplate) are pretty hard, so you almost can't go too fast. I've got new Bob bone pins and new Newtone Masterclass PBs, so it's a little zinggy right now, but I never like the first week of these strings too much no matter what. Hard to tell other tangible impacts yet. Anyway, the tools are packed up and will be in the mail early Monday morning. Until then, you'll find me crowing in the barnyard Mike |

Bridgeslotomy combats baldness and extends the length of your... | ||

OMG! I woke up a morning after completing my bridgeslotomy and found that not only had my sustain
increased (!) but my abs were six-pack-hard. Unbelieving, I went to the mirror and found that my hair, missing in
action since my 20's, was restored to its full and natural splendor, as this Before and After
picture can attest...
I returned to the bedroom and my wife shut and locked the door, we were busy for HOURS and while I'm a little sore now, you know my ball ends are well seated and my sustain is still ringing! Brideslotomy: saving bridgeplates, bald pates and old dates since 2009! ~M

About MBuchman....
Not only was your post funny, but I can see we need to give out awards for the fastest rooster in town. I got the kit back today from Mike. This has to be some kind of record turn around so far. I name you "Rippen' Roooster"...... until your turn around time gets bested. Chaz.
