Last set I used were MH Titanium (available on ebay) and they were great. I'm going to stick with them. Highly recommended.

Oasis GPX strings | ||
|
I am a huge fan of the the Oasis GPX Normal tension and high tension strings. Dave Hepple has been sending out free sets of the normal tensions for folks to
try out. I put them on my Takamine 132S and I absolutely love them! I had the Savarez Alliance carbon fiber strings before, and they were very stiff. The
GPX strings are carbon fiber, but have a nice soft feel like nylon. I reviewed these strings on the delcamp classical forum, many have tried them and have
also found them to be outstanding strings.
I'll be putting the GPX high tension strings on my new build in the next month. Those can currently be purchased at strings by mail. Dave told me the normal tension strings will be sold in there within the next month. Lisa |

I read somewhere about nylon strings that are wavy(not smooth like normal strings), it mentioned the brand and came strung on a guitar but I forgot to write it
down. Anyone familiar with these strings?

Are you talking about nylon wound on nylon trebles? Savarez makes these and I have seen other brands. http://www.juststrings.com/sav-520p1.html During the '70s, there was a brand there the wound trebles were multi-colored in a tie-dye effect. Anyone else remember those?

Could be, Mike but I thought the article said the strings were bumpy feeling and when they had a closer look the saw the strings were lumpy, and they had a
certain name for these type of string, could be wrong as my memory is not as good as it used to be. It might be called rectified strings.

Won't be that. Rectified nylon strings go through a second step to remove any small bumps or inconsistencies left by the extruding process. This makes for more even intonation. In the real world, the "problem" is rarely noticeable so the rectifying process is really more marketing hype than performance enhancement.

I put some Galli Titanio hard tension and D'Addario EXP normal tenison bass- med/high tension trebs on my b'day list to try out. I've got the Galli
strings now but in regular tension so it will be a good experiment on the tone diff from the tension and the D'Addario are purely a trial for fun. I should
have these on by next week-once I figure out which to try first!

Muriel Anderson Strings
|
On the string note, I have been playing my classicals with D'Addario ProArte high tension strings but I picked up a pack of Muriel Anderson GHS strings and
followed the directions for the special tying instructions and was very impressed with the tone and balance of some different sizes/tensions and ball ends.
They are designed for quick changes and intonation advantages. The trebles have small ball ends on them that are formed at the end of the strings. It took a
little effort to get them to ty correctly but the result was impressive. I think I have found a set I am going to play more often. martin000

Diameter of strings make a difference?
|
I've noticed that the Oasis GPX trebles are slightly smaller in diameter than the Savarez Alliance carbon fibers...and although we are talking about a very
tiny difference, I do find it easier to play a treble with a wider diameter?
Thoughts? Lisa |
