Third in the signature, below. I even played it before I bought it--how 'bout that? Just very happy with it and have to tell somebody. There's a nearby
thread looking for the "un-Martin sound." Well, this ain't it. The store let me take it, before I bought it, into a two-day recording session of
rhythm section with some veteran players. There was no turning back. Just a sweet, sweet guitar. Thanks for listening.

Congratulations; I've not played one but I haven't yet to hear of a bad one. I head they are as nice as the 000-28EC or nicer.

OM 28V was my first Martin. At the time, it was the nicest acoustic guitar I'd ever owned. I was absolutely hooked for life on the Martin sound and
workmanship. After I got a dreadnought, I found that they complemented each other beautifully. The GAS was on.

The store was doing marketing...if you took that bad-boy out for a test spin at a session, they knew you were H O O K E D...but what a way to go!
How do you think the new OM-28V stacks up against your 000-28vs? Have you played it enough to compare the sound/feel in detail? As some one already said, pics would be good so we can all share in your joy. Congratulations! |

You guys are all nice as pie. Thanks for enjoying this guitar with me.
sdan70 asked about pics. This particular model comes from the factory with (don't ask me why) a pickguard that I have judged to be not the most beautiful. It came off first thing, with an order placed for a Greven. Meanwhile, it has this awkward tan line, and I think it would be embarrassed to be seen here in that condition. When it's dressed again, and when it stops raining outside, I'll post a couple shots. I want to buff out the headplate, first, too. Might as well have a "V" that looks like a "V." adjohns3 complimented the store's marketing. There's more. I'd been in often to play this thing. I once wondered aloud what it would sound like with new strings. Bam, new strings. Another time I asked if they set up the guitars they sell, because I found the action a tad high. Bam, next time I was in, the in-house luthier had not only brought the saddle down, but beautifully compensated it, as well. I asked for a quarter-crank clockwise on the truss rod. Bam, got it. This was all without the slightest commitment to buy. Adjohns3 also asked how this guitar compared with my 000-28VS. When the triple-0 arrived a couple years ago, it was just so elegantly designed I couldn't put it down. But the sound was a surprise. It was wonderfully complex and "classic" sounding, but it didn't strum quite as sweetly as I'd expected, and was generally more "exciting" than "warm." (I know, just poetry--best I can do. Plus, my wife wanted it to sound more like the M-36 I courted her with--maybe "softer edges" on the notes and a little deeper low E.) This OM is what I kept wanting the triple-0 to sound like. And the 1/16 less nut width is easier for me, too. I'd love to keep them both, but economy demands that I let the triple-0 go. Darrell mentioned that it's hard to pass up a good guitar. Well, especially when among the dealer's graces was a clearance price of $2k. Just everything good that could happen happened. Chris, thanks particularly for your gracious words. I love this place.

A good dealer that takes care of loyal customers (which may be why they're loyal in the first place) is a wonderful thing! I love the classic voice of a
rosewood/sitka OM, and the 1 3/4" V neck on the OM-28Vs I've played is great.
Isn't it a great feeling to get a guitar that fits the "guitar sound" you carry around in your head? Mike
