I have a D28 CWB.
Both the EIR and BR Clarence Whites are great modern dreads. PB |

If I were buying a new first Martin, knowing what I do nowadays and having experienced as many guitars as I have - the D-28CW would be on the very short list
of possibilities in spite of the mod V neck and neck binding. The ones I've played have all sounded great!

I had one for awhile once upon a time. It had the quintessential HUGE bass, which I liked. Kindof wish I'd held onto it, but in the end I like the 1 3/4
width a lot better. Nate, thats something to consider..the CW has 1 11/16. If 3/4 suits you, you may want to consider a Marquis, which is a very similiar
guitar sans the large sound hole.
Jon Garon usually has quite a few CW's in stock, I'd give him a call if you pull the trigger..best Martin dealer that I know of (no financial interest, etc.). I believe several other members own or have owned one. Yiannis where are you at man? |

The neck width is no problem my HD-35 is1 11/16. But the Marquis is nice; I never thought of that.
Thanks for the input guys . Nate |

A buddy of mine was able to get a great deal on a new one a month or so ago. It is without a doubt one of the finest dreads I've ever played. Well
balanced, with tight, punchy bass, ringing mids, plenty of overhead, and singing trebles. A great b'grass rhythm guitar and a standout for lead playing. I
would not hesitate if a D-28CW is in your price range, assuming a dread with loads of testoterone is what you are looking for.

Outstanding guitar. Rich and full. I think the bigger soundhole (and the Adi top) accentuates the mids, but it doesn't compromise the nice low end. (Means,
to me anyway, that it's a great bluegrass guitar -- perfect for flatpicking solos as well as strumming.)

The finest sounding guitar I ever played was a D-28CW that I had in the house for a weekend from the local dealer. I loved it, but the 1 11/16" neck and I
didn't agree. So, I bought a D-28 Marquis which is almost as great as the CW sounded, but not quite the same. Don't know if it is the larger sound hole
on the CW or just the usual guitar-to-guitar variation, but that CW would have been a real keeper if only the fretboard felt right. Still, my Marquis is a real
keeper, but I'll never forget that CW!

Great Guitar !!!!! I've played quite a few and they've never disappointed. As a matter of fact, just played on this past Saturday at Huber &
Breese and was just knocked out by it. I really would like to see Martin do a version of the guitar in Madagascar Rosewood. That would really be interesting.

Just noticed this thread, so thought I would chime in. I love my CW, and it's a keeper. Sounds great already, so who knows how good it will sound when the
Adi top gets broke in. There's really nothing to not like about this guitar, assuming that you can handle the 1-11/16 V neck.
