Don't know if they're still being numbered (I think they are), but the highest numbers I've seen around have been the mid-70's (mine is #15,
the last of the very first batch . . .

According to the count that's pinned to the top of this Topic, there are at least 76 that are numbered today. That list was last edited in April 2008 and
there was only one other post of a change of ownership of #16 since April 2008. It is my understanding that they will be numbered and will only last as long as
the spec wood [quilted mahogany back] will be available. Check with Jon or Maury or any other Martin Dealer to see if they are still available.

I thought there would have been more, what will all the members and all. They didn't exactly fly off the shelf. I'm rather surprised.

This is a very special guitar for fingerstyle playing. Once you have played one, you are hooked until you buy one.
As far as flying off the shelf, I don't know of any other "custom" models that have been produced in this number. I think we are now in the 80s from the posts I have seen. I noted that Jon with My Favorite Guitar has at least two, one amberburst, on his site and he would probably have a number on it.

That's about an average of 12 - 15 a year or so, so not bad for an idea that started as a lark here almost 6 years ago.

Bill,
Did you change your mind? I'm sorry but you can't have it back, in fact I was thinking about buying another one so I would have a backup in case anything happened to #81. GAS?! Now how can I make sure I get #100 and I think it would have to be a natural top... not to hijack but does anyone have a count of naturals vs. bursts? Dan. |

I received my #59 from Jon in April 2006, so maybe 8 or so per year are being purchased new.

The new 00-18S John Mellencamp may take a dink out of the remaining sets of quilted mahogany. Of the two 00-18S JM's I saw, the quilt was nothing to get
excited about. I wonder how much quilted mahogany is left. Mike

"That's about an average of 12 - 15 a year or so,"
.............that out of 70,000+ guitars - and - add in the fact there are more than 12,000 UMGF members. Surprising that more were'nt sold. |

12000 UMGF members, but not all fingerpickers, which who this guitar appeals to the most although I find it impressive for strumming as well.
The Bluegrass and Flatpickers in the groug already have access to standard models that really meet their specs - that's why Martin does so well with the D28, D35 and HD versions of these guitars.

Check out Buy Sell for a new F/S listing of a 2006 Amberburst UMGF at:
http://theunofficialmarti...ic/76293/master/1/?page=1 I have no connection with the seller. I just could not resist letting others who might be interested in a UMGF not take a gander at this beauty.
