(09/23/08 6:40 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None I got to play one of the Morgan Music store's custom D-18 guitars, with a Missouri motif including a dogwood blossom on the fretboard. A friend of mine was trying it out at the Starvy Creek festival and I gave it a run. Then he bought it and I got to sit in front of it at a jam. Very nice. Looks good. The dogwood inlay is very tasteful. Standard 18 except: forward shifted scalloped bracing and herringbone trim around the sitka top. My friends guitar has tons of volume, even brand new, and more depth, chime and richness than your standard new D-18. The impression that I and other pickers had was that this guitar has a super musical piece of sitka in the top. Very cool guitar. It doesn't have the deep muscle of the authentic nor all the chime of the GE. But it falls somewhere in between the straight 18 and those guitars, with its own unique voice. Worth checking out for 18 lovers. I'd never met the Morgan folks before and I don't know the details on my friend's deal, but he was satisfied and I think the guitar comes in between 2 and 3 g. I'll post pics I took of my friend's purchase later.

I played both #1 and #3 and for some strange reason I liked the tone of #3 better. It was the one at the Morgan Music Shop building at Starvy Creek on Friday. They had #1 there on Thursday, and I believe it sold also. I must have walked in and out of the little barn a thousand times, taking that guitar down and playing it and listening to others play it. I knew I couldn't afford it, but I couldn't not afford it either. I lost my Martin D35 in a house fire in Dec., 2006 and you know what a sick feeling that would be. This guitar just screamed at me to buy it (and it didn't hurt that my wife kept encouraging me). I will never regret buying this fine instrument. It is way better than I deserve. But I will treasure it and treat it like the great guitar it is. I play it every day, and it even makes my tired old butt sound better. Anyone interested in owning one of these guitars should jump at the chance. Their will be only 12 and #4 is also already sold. Thanks to everyone at Starvy Creek who took the time to pick a little bit on my guitar. The skill and love are still in her and will always remain. As Dan Crary told me once--"The more hands that play it, the better it sounds." To bad I don't play like Dan.....maybe I will have him take a go at it the next time I see him.....

My wife gave me the "wink" on mine, too. We went straight to Silver Dollar City from the store and Kenny Smith payed it. He said, "Sweet!". I had him sign my receipt. I pick mine up everyday also. I just tried a set of Curt Mangan strings and it sounds soooooooo good. It's stompin' my V in the picking category. Enjoy that flower! Having spent years in the Ozarks I just think it's great to have this kind of elegant accent on a Martin guitar. Obviously you were meant for this guitar. And this guitar was meant for you! Congrats!
