Tell me about 00-17's from 1934
I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the structural changes happening at Martin, especially on dreadnoughts, from the late 30's until 1950, but these early to mid-30's 00 guitars are a bit of a mystery to me, structurally. What am I looking at, in terms of construction details, for a '34 00-17?
Obviously, it's all mahogany / brazilian rosewood plate, fingerboard, and bridge / ebony nut / bone (or ivory?) saddle / and bar frets. But what's happening on the inside? Do these have the same basic scalloped bracing pattern I would expect on an early '40 00 series guitar (like a '41 00-18 for example), or was Martin doing something different in '34? What are the braces made of? What's the neck stiffener--steel T Bar? What's the specified width at the nut and string spacing? Is there anything else interesting happing in '34 with these guitars?
Thanks so much!
