Back in the 12 string fold
I haven't owned a 12 string since 1972. It was some kinda Yamaha dreadnought. Not wanting to spend too much, yet get something that carried a good report. I got a Seagull Coastline S12. It arrived inside its hardshell case via the big brown truck yesterday.
Straight out of the box it played very easy all the way up the neck. Played in standard tuning up to pitch. I might have to raise the action a touch.
Where she really roused my attention was putting her in open D tuning again at true pitch. Then doing my interpretation of Rev. Robert Wilkins "Ain't No Way To Get Along."
Whoa Nelly! That was Fun.
As fun as it was it showed me I needed to beef up the strings for lowered tunings. Even more so if my "standard" tuning is actually two or three (maybe even more) steps below A440.
I know that without documentation it didn't happen. I would like to hear from other Seagull Coastline S12 owners and their experimentation with different string sets.
