I found this http://portland.craigslist.org/nco/msg/1440806034.html on Craigslist today I thought I should pass on. The price seems very good for any BRW guitar. If I hadnt just blown my GAS budget Id be on my way right now! No affiliation and I havent contacted the seller to discuss it.

Favorite 12-string capo?

Which one do you prefer, and what guitar do you use it on? For my J12-40, the Shubb 12-string capo is the best I've found to date, but the thicker neck of my 1978 Guild F212XL needs something else, though not sure what.

Case for D12-20

The case i have with guitar is the old blue 70's Martin hard shell, never liked the way it fit, very tight. Is this the wrong case for a 12 fret dread? If it is, what should i be looking for to replace it?

Seagull 12 string

I have been a forum member here for years but I just got my first 12 string, a Seagull M 12 with cedar top. I have had an M 6 for years and think it is the best bargain out there so when I decided to look for a good 12 string, the Seagull was the logical choice. I found a NOS on ebay for $299.00, shipping include. It is a great guitar with a nice low action. My question is How well do they hold up in standard tuning? Any of you had long term experience with one?

J12-40 w/ Adirondack?

My friend has a J12-40. Under warranty, it is at the factory for repairs, and regrettably it will require a new top. So, he paid an upcharge to have them use Adirondack for the top instead of the stock spruce. It won't be home for some time yet, but wondering what tonal / volumetric differences you all think this might make?

Hi Folks,
I'm new to Martin guitars and new to this forum. I got a DC-16GTE recently and I'm in love -- totally. Now I'm in the market for a 12 string. Do you have experience with J12-15? How's the sound and playability? How's it stack up against other 12 strings (like Guilds). I wish that I could play some before I buy, but I live in a small town far from a city with limited guitar selection.

New Grand J vs Old D12-35

I had a chance to sit down and compare my new Grand J12-40E and my old D12-35 which just came home from a factory restoration. I will admit that I've been playing the D12-35 almost nonstop since it came home 2 weeks ago and I'm just stunned by it's newly restored playability and it's wonderful tone. So today I took out both guitars and gave them both a workout in a side-by-side comparison.

I hadn't played a big bodied, East Coast Guild 12 for a while. I got the opportunity last night on my way home when traffic got all gobbed up.

I stopped at Cathedral Music in Troy and Klem had an all maple, used Guild jumbo. You kind of forget how good these bad boys sound. We're talking rumble-in-your-chest good. All I can say is wow. Rhode Island Guilds do it all the time to me. Dang.

Finally Pulled the 12 String Trigger

So after many months of debating on whether or not I should buy a used 12 string I finally pulled the trigger this past weekend and snatched up a used Takamine EG523SC- 12 G series guitar.

Lark Street Music has a very nice 1971 D12-20 for $1000. Beautiful bear claw top. I don't know if it needs a neck reset. You may want to check this one out. I don't think this one will last.

iBeam Active for my J12-15?

I'm looking to put a pickup in my J12-15 and was thinking about the iBeam Active. Does anyone have this set up? What do you think? Otherwise, I might just go for a magnetic pickup of some sort.

If you were going to have Martin build a new D12-20 or D12-35, which model would you select? I know this is a personal opinion type of thing, and that is what I am looking for.

I have gone through my share of 12-strings over the years. They are all gone. I could never decide if I liked maple, mahogany, or rosewood for the back and sides, over a spruce top.

If it helps to guide me, I am primarily a strummer and would be using this for rhythm work.

I currently own a D12X1 and like it very much but not having an onboard pickup is a pain sometimes.
I'm considering selling/giving the D12X1 but my research doesn't show either an A/E version of the D12X1 or on the re-issued 1 Series.
True?
I also searched the forum and coundn't find anything.
Is there no inexpensive Martin 12-string A/E option?
