So many nice Christmas songs posted here; I'm enjoyin' em, "Silent Night" in particular.

Here's a duet I did last Christmas with a high school student on English horn (one of the most beautiful wind instruments, IMO). Sorry for the 30 seconds of nothing at the beginning; this video stuff is still new to me. Followed by a cover of Phil Keaggy's take on Coventry Carol. String section is entirely high school students.

Here is my attempt at this beautiful melody on the mandolin. I have caught the mandolin bug, and recently got my Kalamazoo mandolin fixed up by Mr. Aaron Cowles. Anyhow, it is a Christmas song, and this is my contribution for this year. I am trying to stretch myself musically.

Just wanted to share a little recording I did this morning of my custom D-45 Alpine/madagacar with 1968 specs (a la Neil Young).

Strings are 1 year old : elixir nanoweb phosphore bronze. No editing, FX, EQ and so on. Just straight in a Zoom Q3 recorder.

Adding to the diversity of the Silent Night circle here, I recorded my arrangement of this one on my Mcgill Classic earlier in the week.

Doesn't quite have as much character as Dale's electric rendition nor Shane's Weissenborn ... but the nylon tone works rather well on this one I think.

This is for my wife, Paula. She is still hospitalized for a stroke she suffered on Sept. 10, 2009. She was in ICU for 7 weeks and has been in Rehab for the last month or so. She has a mountain in front of her but she remains strong and loving life. She's my love and my hero.... and remains the best person I've ever known. This is a song that I wrote many years ago and just now have gotten around to recording it on my Zoom H2. It is entirely flatpicked on my Stanford PSD-10 (no fingerpicking content here), and is played up the neck sounding similar to an Asus root chord, but with the 4th string fretted on the 7th, and the 3rd string on the 6th.
