My wife and I caught Barenberg at the Carroll Arts Center in Westminster, MD, last night. What a treat. My son called me from the road on Friday evening to report that Ralph Stanley would be appearing on the Letterman show that evening. I recorded the show to DVR, expecting the witty, urbane and self absorbed host to interview the self described "backwards one," who is promoting his new autobiography. For a minute there as I heard it wafting through the walls on my kid's side of the duplex, I thought some zombie had got her last night. But no, she was just watching Hulu, where all the geeks go for their TV fix.

I gotta say, for Hollyweird, they did okay with what looks to be REAL guitar playing. (Sucky guitar though, to which unadulterated kid replied, "It's a high school guitar!!")

These are guitarists in my opinion play better lead rhythm than riff material. Probably could add a few and debate about any of this subjective views.

I find it easier on my ears to listen to Neil and his acoustic and thats why i stick close to home to totally not electric. I think Neil and Townsend do good muting techniques that make there rhythm playing entertaining. Townsend being like 100 times better at lead than Neil but them two play totally different so you really cant...
