Pre-purchase Advice?

Of the following Martin models:

D-18 Standard
M-36
D-18SS
D-18V
HD-35
D-18VS
HD-28V

Which would you recommend for an incurable Travis Picker, who only occasionally strums, mostly fingerpicks, and who plays and sings hardcore country music (as in not the pseudo-country pop and country rock they're pawning off as country these days)?

And not bluegrass. That's a different thing.

And no, I don't actually...

Does this mahogany back have "silking"?

What do you think? I have never seen mahogany have the perpendicular waves usually found on soundboards. It is the first time that I have seen it on a mahogany guitar.

Is the CEO4 a potential investment piece??

Hello I have a question related to the CEO4. I believe that there was only 300 made in a limited edition. There is a lot of interest in these guitars because they are so similar to the Gibson J45. Many feel that they sound a lot the J45, but better. On the other hand, Gibson loyalist get furious when anyone makes that claim. Hello Folks!

I´m Greg from vienna, austria (europe) and new in the world of Martins. I just bought a 000-15 few years ago. Most of the time i play a Larrivee OM-10 Brazilian and a C-10 Brazilian. But now we played more gigs and i need a good, warm, bassy and loud Dreadnought. So i want to buy a Martin HD-28 or a D-35. They have nearly the same price. But which model i shall take? Here in vienna it´s not easy to can test both models side by side or alone. I just can testing a D-28....

I've had some time recently to compare a 2000 HD-28V and a 2001 HD-28LSV. The V has had little playing time and, imho, needs to have some playing done on it. But it does sound great. A lot different than the LSV. Also, the V doesn't have the 'shimmer' (a commonly used word around here) my similarly braced D-42 has. Again, some good playing I beieve will make this guitar really rock shortly!

What is the story with this guitar? I saw this auction posted today where the seller says, "This limited run recently sold out at the Martin factory and no more will be produced."

Cases that fit 000-28EC

I bought a 000-28EC here on the forum a while back, I believe it came with an original case. The case is a Black with velvet fabric tapered/folded type green lining. The top is slightly arched. My question is, does Martin make this case with the same material lining in Red?> Any help would be apreciated/

short-scale, straight-braced question

D-18A Neck changes...possible?

I would someday love a D-18A, but there is no way I can handle that neck. I am most comfortable with a low profile 1 11/16".

Since the D-18A has the non-adjustable T-bar, can it be custom ordered with a different neck or does it need to be the Authentic barrel & heel shape to accommodate the T-bar?

Went down to Nazareth today. Had Lon look at a few things on my guitar and took the tour. Said hello to Dick Boak - walked through the museum and played some guitars in the picking parlour. What a GREAT day! I tell you - the people who work there really seem to love their jobs.

Only down side was that I played a D-18A they had hanging in the picking parlour and it was a big disappointment. Just about every other guitar hanging in there beat it hands down (HD 28 VS, D35 Cash,...

This great little tin box holds 12 picks, assorted sizes .53 to 1.14 mm. FYI, the box lid SLIDES! Don't try to wrench it upward, as I did. Groan, okay, I'm not mechanically-minded.

Here is the orginal post and follow-up. I have been told this is the real deal. Honesty at it's best.

looks like pearl? letters, and the same kind of pearl? goes up every other notch on neck. Also a bunch of old 78 records.
