Hello,

First of all, I read "Care and Feeding". It came with my new HD-28V and is the same online. I've had it for almost two months. But now the weather is getting warmer and the long sleeved shirts are getting put away. Today I noticed for the first time the residue of where my arm sits on the top edge. A "warm damp cloth" didn't really want to get it all off. It's not a lot, I'm probably the only one who will see it but any mark on it is going to bug me. I don't have any polish, Martin or otherwise (well, maybe some Pledge in the cabinet). What should I use to get it really clean preserve the finish? I've had guitars for the better part of my life and I know that they tend to get dull in that area. I intend for this not to happen with this guitar, if at all possible.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Ken

* I gave it the ToneRite treatment. WOW! Sounds loud and lush with terrific sustain.

* Excellent condition. Has a few barely visible finish blems as you'd expect if a guitar has been played at all. A more visible one next to strap button. Like a small finish bubble. See pics.

* Apparently had a pickup at one time, was removed. Larger ebony end pin used. See pic.

* I replaced the black strap button seen in some pics with gold one (also seen in a pic) to match gold Waverly tuners.

* TKL hard case in excellent condition included

Hi All, I have a 1960 D-28 that I bought and had a neck re-set, re-fret and new bridge and bridgeplate put on. The bridge was cracked and the bridgeplate was also no good. Wayne Henderson did the work for me and it's now it great shape. It looks and sounds great too. I understand it's not original, but the top, back and sides are in real nice shape. The top has a 3/4" pickguard crack and 2 other 1/2" cracks that were all stabilized by Wayne. The back and sides are in very good condition with NO issues.

My confusion is, I posted it on ebay (as well as here) and wanted $6,100.00. I didn't get an offer here and ebay (twice) never got higher than $4,500,00. Am I missing something? It books at $6,500 - $7,500, but I couldn't even get $6,100. I've seen worse on Gruhn and other places for $7,000+. I just don't get it. Someone help me to understand the link I'm missing.

Thanks, Tom

I have a GAS for a new Martin. Latley I have been thinking a lot about getting a plain ol´ D-18 to keep my HD-28 company on the wall. The only thing is that I need money. I have this orange Telecaster from 1980 that I used to play A LOT a couple of years ago but since I got bit by the bluegrassbug and got into acoustic guitars my electrics have rested in their cases in the closet. I haven´t even changed the strings on this Tele for over a year. I am afraid I would regret selling it but it´s the only solution for me if I want to get that new Martin. I used to be a die-hard Telecaster guy but these days I don´t really care about electric guitars at all. I still have an old Strat from 1976 that I got when I was 15 that I will never sell. The Strat needs some new frets and stuff but is still playabale. What do you guys think? Would you sell the Tele and get a new Martin?

This post on behalf of my old college roommate, if that's OK. A real long shot, but here goes: In about 1971 he was moving into a new apartment in Minneapolis near the University of Minnesota. He set his D-18 and case down to run inside and a minute later it was gone. It's most distinctive feature was that someone had converted it to electric at one time, drilling holes for two controls on the top. Then later the holes were filled in again. Vintage would have been 1950s or 1960s. If you run across such a beast, please let me know. I could get in touch with a very surprised old buddy to try to ID further. Thanks.
